Alternative mummies and daddies

Hey there, I am a new member of this community. My name is Sophie and I live in the UK with my hubby James and daughter Faith who is three years old. During the day I am a full time student and mummy but at night I'm the drunk one on the dance floor (even when there isn't one!). Please friend me as I'm relatively new to LJ and even though I'm a busy mum I always find time to comment!

Wintertime Carseat Information... [Dec. 5th, 2005|12:46 am]
Alternative mummies and daddies

This is something that a Certified Carseat Tech posts every winter on another forum I frequent...hope it helps some people...
"Well it is time for us to start thinking about the cold winter months ahead for most of us. And since the good majority of us live in very cold climates I thought I should start spreading the safety issues surrounding coats, snowsuits, blankets, and car seats.

hi all...x-posted [Nov. 22nd, 2005|12:47 am]

I haven't posted in here in what seems like forever...

I had the wee man (Simon Carroll McKenzie) on August 26th...who was a wee man at first...but in the past 2 1/2 months he's more than doubled his birth weight...and grown 6 inches...geez...he's become quite the little chunk...

Overall he's a pretty good little baby...BUT does have some gas issues...which if we're out of mylecon can be a real nightmare...since we have a system of

scream to eat
get settled
scream from belly ache
soothe forever through that
calm down
scream to fight sleep
sleep for 10 minutes
scream for food and over and over..

He does not nap durring the day...a mixture of fighting sleep...and his 4 year old sister boppin in and waking him up...thank god he's been sleeping all night for a couple of weeks (since the worst of it has started) or I'd probably have gone insane by now...lol...

other than the not napping and gassiness (which isn't his fault at all) he's such a cute, sweet, happy, cuddly little boy...definitly stole my heart...

so now..here's a picture I took Sunday...(it's kinda big)

so esme has this cd i let her "play with"
its pretty scrtched up and bright orange. she loves it.
normally she just slides it round on the floor or tosses it.
so, just now, i was lying on the bed reading. all of a sudden there was the cd over my head, and she had her finger sticking through the little hole in the middle.
down it came cd smashed on face and finger up my nose.
the weirdest part though, was that she looked at me, took it away and started laughing really hard.
then she put it over my lips and kept poking her finger through it.
then the nose. then my eyeballs.
and then she stopped and started laughing and laughing.
at me. she was laughing at me.
not because i was funny.
she was abusing me and thought it was hilarious.
this is the start of the downfall.

Hello out there! [Sep. 15th, 2005|04:46 pm]
Alternative mummies and daddies

Hello from America.

I've been a member if this community for awhile now under a different identity but never posted here really before. As tattoo_mommy I hope that this will change.

I am a post-punk (but still in my heart) tattoo artist mom. My son lives with his dad in a suburb of Boston, MA and I live in Salem, MA, popularly called "The Witch City".... I figured I'd share with you guys our adventures from yesterday since Autumn is beginning here in the states.....

My son and I see one another only a few times a month, but when we do, we try to have as many adventures as possible....My journal is intended to communicate and share these experiences with my son....if you would like to communicate with me directly, please do so through my other LJ - as deanocturne. Best regards.....and I hope you all share more of your adventures with your children!

From my journal as "mom":

Today I surprised Niko when he got out of school! I was so happy we hugged and he was happy to see me! : D That is by far, the GREATEST feeling in the world.

He said he was starving, so I gave him the choice of burgers and fries or pizza and he chose fries (of course!).

We went to McDonald's in Wakefield where we had some food and watched the TV they have up on a wall. Niko told me again how he's sick and tired of hearing about Hurricane Katrina and now there's another hurricane off the coast of North Carolina called Hurricane Ophelia. Wow. SO many BAD storms this year. Its' sad. A friend of mine lost her home in New Orleans and because someone stole her wallet and her identity, she can't get help. It's really a bad situation down there.

After food we went to the Gingerbread Construction Co. where we got some goodies and ate some too!

Alternative mummies and daddies

Don't know if it's ok to post this but anyway... does anyone want a Tomy Safari baby carrier/ sling? It's in good condition and still has its box.
If anyone is interested and would like to make me an offer (not holding out for much) as well as pay postage (UK £4.50). If not, off to the devil Ebay it goes...

Baby not included :p
